When we wear dress or class A uniform .That is when personal decorations or awards are worn. When functioning as a member of the 29th I.D No personal achievement awards or decorations (i.e silver star , purple heart , C.I.B. etc) Will be worn  unless that member has earned them throug  prior military service. Decorations such as campain ribbons or shooting badges may be worn when historically  correct. Please remeber that the 29th Div (as a  whole) saw no combat till June 6th 1944. so combat awards would not generally be seen unless the time frame that is being depicted is post D-Day 1944. As a whole the 29th Div was authorized to wear the American defense ribbon . sometimes called the pre-Pearl harbor ribbon.and the European theater of operations. There is still some debate about the American  Theater ribbon. As the 29th Div did not have the requisite one year on duty (post Dec 7th 1941) in the contiental U.S.
The distinguished unit citation was awared to 3 infantry regiments on D-Day 6th June 1944
I would like to thank the 29th world war ll living history U.S.A .as a lote of this info has come from them
